American rock band Vampire Weekend was formed in 2006 by lead vocalist and guitarist Ezra Koenig, multi-instrumentalist Rostam Batmanglij (who left the band in 2016), drummer Chris Tomson, and bassist Chris Baio. The band released its self-titled, self-produced debut album in 2008, launching four critically acclaimed singles and entering at number 17 on the Billboard 200. Two years later, the band released its follow-up, Contra, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and received widespread acclaim. Modern Vampires of the City (2013), their third studio album, won the group a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Albumin 2014. A fourth, Father of the Bride, is due for release in 2019.
