Alexander James O’Connor, the man behind Rex Orange County as we know him, hails from Hampshire in England. He became attuned to music at the age of 5 when he joined a school choir. Throughout his childhood, he explored different instruments that led him to become the charming musician he is today. He was given the nickname "The OC" by his music teacher, to which O'Connor penned "Orange County" to his stage name. At 16, he grabbed his guitar and started producing his own music using his mac.
He uploaded his first album "Bcos U Will Never B Free" to Soundcloud in 2015 which garnered attention and resulted in collaborations with the likes of Two Inch Punch and Tyler the Creator. In 2016, he dropped "UNO" which was described as "The buoyant keyboard riff underpins a hypnotic half-spoken vocal, one that veers from topic to topic in a hazy burst of creative mania." by Clash magazine.
Hypnotic vocals and heart-touching lyrics are things that fans just can't get enough about Rex Orange County. He'd pop out on stage on a laid back shirt or sweater, and the crowd goes wild as soon as he lays his fingers on the keyboard or strums his guitar to crowd-favorite tracks like "Sunflower", "Corduroy Dreams", "Pluto Projector", and "10/10".
Every show is indeed a 10/10 as the crowd goes wild for the seemingly calm and laid-back lad who stirs the crowd with his hypnotic and magnetic voice.
